Few audiences are aware of the musical synergy present at the Mantua court in the late sixteenth century. Monteverdi’s duties for the Gonzaga court included the composition of madrigals and incidental music to entertain the court. Jewish composer Salamone Rossi worked alongside Monteverdi, composing madrigals and Hebrew music for the temple in a Renaissance motet style. Join the de Angelus ensemble for an evening at the Gonzaga court and experience a delightful program of the sacred and the secular.
