Season Overview

Welcome to the 2017-2018 Thirteenth Season

At the beginning of each season our organization spends time reflecting on the generosity of our patrons; those who share a financial gift with our organization, and the faithful audience members who would never consider missing a program. We feel fortunate and grateful for your continued generosity.

Our thirteenth season promises to be a spectacular experience. If you are looking for world-class artists and performances, for cutting edge programming, or for the opportunity to see and hear the work of our talented ensemble, all you have to do is look through these pages and choose from an impressive array of choral programming. Our mission is to present concerts that are aesthetically rewarding, technically superior, and inspirational in the best artistic sense.

Our season begins with a birthday celebration for contemporary English composer Herbert Howells. Ensembles throughout the world have spent the year offering tribute to one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. Birthday Notes for Herbert Howells features both music of Herbert Howells and his contemporaries. Britten for Christmas includes the Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten and the Jesu Carols of American composer Stephen Paulus. In February, the de Angelis singers will join Kontrapunktus – an extremely precocious and talented group of string players for Handel’s celebrated oratorio – Ode to St. Cecilia. Our season concludes at Christ Cathedral for an exquisite program of sacred French music.

With some of the lowest ticket prices in the Southern California area, and some of the most magnificent venues for the performance of choral literature, you cannot afford to stay home.

We look forward to having you with us. Come join the excitement!
